It's the start of a new school year, and, after having to clear out the majority of my wardrobe in my move back to the US, I'm finding some holes in my teacher wardrobe. Thankfully, the new school year also means end-of-season sales. This weekend, LOFT is having one of their larger sales: 50% off full-priced items and extra 60% of sale items! Don't forget to bring your teacher ID for that teacher discount, too!
Below are a few of my personal picks for this sale that are petite teacher friendly!
If your school is like mine and has a strict no-jeans policy, finding nice work pants is a must. These pants are a nice color of blue that can pair well with a wide variety of blouses, tees, and sweaters. The pin-tuck on the legs gives a pleasant bit of interest, too.
I also like the length and rise on these pants. A mid-rise will give you so much more freedom to move around in the classroom because you don't have to worry as much about having shirts long enough to cover your backside when getting on-level with students, bending over student work, or standing on your tip toes to reach the top of the whiteboard.
There is one point of worry here, though, for those more conservative schools and that's the skinny fit. If your admin is rather strict about "skin-tight" clothes, you may want to look for something with wider legs or get a size up from your normal and have the waist tailored.
Although my school does have a no-jeans policy, my principal tends to be a bit more lenient on enforcing the rules, and I can usually get away with wearing a high-quality denim skirt. This shift skirt is a nice one because it has a flatter look and a higher-quality dark wash that makes it more appropriate for a conservative workplace. I also like the fairly deep pockets - great for carrying around classroom keys or the projector remote.
Another great thing about this skirt: the length. It hits right about knee-length, and if you're petite like me and opt for buying in regular sizes, it will hit just below the knee.
Leopard print continues to be in this fall, and this little shell has a beautiful version of the spotted trend. I love the muted tones, and the lavender hues are a unique twist to the print. The high boat-neck will satisfy the four-finger rule, and though the sleeves are just shy of four fingers, throwing on a light-weight cardigan will solve that problem in a jiffy.
The shell will pair well with a variety of neutrals, and LOFT currently has a pair of lavender sateen pants that will help bring out those unique hues as well. This one is definitely going in my cart!
These pants are a great option if the skinny sateen pants are too skinny or a little bit out of budget. They hit at the ankles and have a nice weight that will last through the better part of the fall season. Although not a neutral navy, they will still pair will with a variety of colors and patterns. The mid-rise will also keep your attire classroom-appropriate.
Now, these shorts you won't be able to wear in any classroom, but every teacher needs something fun outside of work, and these shorts are too cute to pass up!
Their neutral beige and light and airy fabric are perfect for the remainder of the summer. I especially like the crochet detail and the elasticized waist, making them easy to throw on.
One of the big trends this summer were straw hats and bags, and LOFT has quite a few of them on sale right now. I personally like this one for its wide brim and adorable striped bow. If there was a beach near me, it would be my go-to summer hat!
These were just a few of my picks from the sale, and I'm excited to be heading to the store tomorrow to try on a few before making my final purchase decisions.
Happy back-to-school style hunting!
